Mr. Kuch Ratana, 33 years old, living Phum Thnol, Krang Lvear Commune in Samamki Meachey district, in Kampong Chanang Province. Before joining with CHEC he was a farmer, he planted the cash-crop in his small plot of land. His income could not support for daily living, he dreamed to be a community’s development agent as volunteer. Since 2019, he was selected by commune as Community Health Volunteers (CHV)/Youth peers to work with CHEC in the community health responsiveness project. Before he implemented the home counseling to PLHIV and addressed other social services in communities like GBV. He was invited to attend the training course on reproductive health, counseling, gender, leadership and GBV with CHEC, trained by Mrs. Hem Sophea, CHR Coordinator. After training, he always conducted home visit to PLHIV and GBV survivors to share knowledge and counseling to them in his commune. He conducted the community educations on the topic he has learnt and active participated to disseminate about GBV, gender and HIV/AIDS especially pandemic like Covid-19. He always invited to join the communities events with CHEC and local authorities especially he raised the issues that happened in community like gangsters, PLHIV who lost follow up and GBV to discuss with local authorities during monthly meeting . Since, his knowledge increased with skill development, his popularity also increased because community people knew him as CHEC agent for changes with highly commitment to work for community development. He has friendship with community people and became a supporter of them. Because of his good attitude and enough capacities enable to work with community people and local authorities, he was promoted as vice village leader with satisfied incentive in 2023. He hoped that his role will be strengthened both skills and working with community, he also still to commit working with CHEC until the project finished. He also thanks to CHEC and Missereor that improved his skills and knowledge especially built his confident to work with community as community agent for change until he became a vice village leader. He will continue to serve his people entirelessly.
