Training Consultancy on Gender-Sensitive Parenting Skills and Conflict Transformation

1. Background:
Cambodian Health and Education for Community (CHEC) is a local non-governmental organization
officially registered at Ministry of Interior since January 2001. CHEC is implementing a project aimed
at promoting gender equality, strengthening family resilience, and fostering peaceful communities
through inclusive and transformative approaches. In many vulnerable communities, gender norms, poor parenting practices, and unresolved conflicts contribute to cycles of violence, inequality, and
intergenerational trauma. To address these challenges, CHEC is seeking a qualified consultant (or team of consultants) to design and facilitate a capacity-building program on gender-sensitive parenting skills and conflict transformation for our target communities.

2. Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to design and deliver a comprehensive and context-specific training
program on gender-sensitive parenting skills and conflict transformation for targeted communities and
stakeholders involved in the project. The consultancy aims to strengthen the capacity of caregivers,
community leaders, service providers, and project staff in promoting positive parenting practices that
uphold gender equality, prevent gender-based violence (GBV), and foster peaceful family and
community relationships. The consultant will also support the integration of gender-transformative and
conflict-sensitive approaches into existing community interventions, contributing to the overall goal of
enhancing the resilience, safety, and well-being of women, children, and vulnerable groups within the
project areas.

3. Training’s objectives:
The main objective of this training is to strengthen CHEC capacity to be able to carry on the
knowledge and experiences into action to bring sustainable development to coverage target area that
CHEC has been implementing its activities. The main objective of the consultancy is to develop and
deliver a culturally relevant and participatory training program that:
• Enhances understanding of gender-sensitive parenting and non-violent discipline
approaches.
• Strengthens practical parenting skills that promote child development, emotional
intelligence, and healthy family dynamics.
• Builds community capacity for conflict transformation, including mediation, dialogue, and
prevention of domestic and gender-based violence.
• Encourages positive gender roles and shared responsibility between caregivers.

4. Scope of Work:
The Consultant will:
1. Review and assess existing training materials and tools related to parenting, gender, and
conflict resolution in the local context.
2. Design and develop an integrated training manual or toolkit on:
– Gender-sensitive parenting
– Positive discipline
– Communication within families
– Conflict transformation techniques (e.g., dialogue, empathy, mediation)
3. Conduct training workshops for CHEC program staff, district facilitators and youth leaders.
4. Produce a final report with key observations, lessons learned, and recommendations for
future replication.

5. Expected Results:
1. Enhanced Knowledge and Awareness
Participants demonstrate increased understanding of gender equality principles, positive
parenting practices, and the impact of harmful gender norms on children and family dynamics.
