Training Consultancy on Stress Management and Safe & Healthy Relationship

        1.Background:

Cambodian Health and Education for Community (CHEC) is a local non-governmental organization officially registered at Ministry of Interior since January 2001. CHEC is committed to promoting gender equality, emotional well-being, and healthy social environments for vulnerable and marginalized communities in Cambodia. As part of our capacity-building and community empowerment initiatives, we aim to deliver a combined training workshop on Stress Management and Safe & Healthy Relationships to enhance psychosocial resilience and relationship skills among participants.

The training is particularly important for groups facing social pressure, discrimination, or trauma—including GBV survivors, LGBTIQ individuals, women, youth, and those living with HIV. The workshop will help participants understand and manage emotional stress, recognize the traits of respectful and non-violent relationships, and develop practical tools for everyday well-being.

          2.Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to design and deliver an interactive and inclusive training that equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to manage stress and build safe, respectful relationships in their personal and community lives.

           3. Training’s objectives:

The objectives of the training are the following:

  • Increase awareness of stress, its causes, and its impact on physical and emotional health.
  • Equip participants with stress management and self-care techniques.
  • Promote understanding of the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships.
  • Strengthen communication, emotional regulation, and boundary-setting skills.
  • Create a safe and supportive learning space where participants can reflect, share, and practice.

    4. Scope of Work:

The Consultant is expected to:

  1. Conduct a brief needs assessment (e.g., consult with staff or review past reports) to tailor training content.
  2. Design a 3-day training curriculum that integrates:
    • Stress management and self-care
    • Safe and healthy relationship principles
    • Gender sensitivity and trauma-informed approaches
  3. Prepare training materials (presentation slides, handouts, exercises).
  4. Facilitate the full training workshop with approximately 15 participants.
  5. Submit a concise training report including participant feedback and recommendations.

    6. Expected Results:
  1. Participants can identify common causes and symptoms of stress in their daily lives. They gain awareness of the link between stress, mental health, and relationships.
  2. Participants are equipped with practical self-care tools (e.g., breathing exercises, mindfulness, emotional regulation strategies). They begin to apply these techniques to reduce anxiety, anger, or emotional fatigue.
  3. Participants can distinguish between respectful, supportive relationships and those involving control, abuse, or manipulation. They understand the principles of consent, boundaries, trust, and communication.
  4. Participants improve their ability to communicate assertively, express emotions constructively, and set personal boundaries. They learn how to manage conflicts without aggression or withdrawal.
  5. Participants feel more confident to care for their emotional health and seek help when needed. They are more likely to support peers facing stress, trauma, or relationship challenges.
  6. Each participant leaves with a basic self-care and/or relationship action plan they can implement in their lives or communities.
  7. The training offers an environment where participants—especially from vulnerable groups—feel respected, heard, and supported.
